I get asked a lot, \u201chow do you cook venison?\u201d Well, short answer is, \u201cjust like beef.\u201d Venison and Beef can be interchanged for any recipe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we harvest a deer, we normally have the butcher ground the whole thing besides the backstrap. Ground venison can be used for many things. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m aware there is a controversy on whether beans go in chili or not. I make it both ways, the same recipe omits the beans!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2lbs of ground venison<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 large onion<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1-2 bell peppers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 Tbsp. Chili powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 Tbsp. Cumin<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1-2 Tbsp. Once peppers are beginning to soften add the ground venison and cook until brown. Strain fat if necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix in meat, rotel or diced tomatoes, all the beans(do not strain), and tomato paste. Bring mixture to a simmer. *check seasonings<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix masa with water and pour into chili, return to simmer for 5-10mins<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serve with toppings and sides<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 id=\"note\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Note\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*Note:\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I cook, I use a lot of seasonings, after adding the beans, check seasonings and add more if needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tomato sauce can be used in place of paste.
